Description

At the front desk, it's me, Marie. Later we join René, in the house where he was born, as it was done in the old days, and built by his ancestors. A family home like a peasant story, from the days when everyone was a farmer with a small plot of land to survive on. From a population of some 200 in 1840 to an inexorable decline to 20 in 2000, including two farming families, the village has seen the return of young families.

It's time for us to try and pass on our farm, our untreated meadows, our hedges, our cherished trees, to show our orchard, from harvest to summer if all goes well, and our old fruit varieties: cherries, harvest apples, small fruits, vine peaches, apples for guarding, pears, wild fruit and fruit from the slopes, blackberries, medlars, walnuts, ... and so help new farmers settle in at a time of climate change.

Do we have an "old-fashioned" or even backward-looking farm? I simply believe that we have maintained a certain art of living that respects nature and people, on a human scale, that takes the time to welcome people and talk about our practices, that, on its own scale, participates in economic life without debauchery and with sobriety. We enjoy socializing, exchanging ideas, debating, presenting our lifestyle choices, and passing on our local recipes for drinks, preserves, jams and processing. We're also capable of talking about our failures in order to nurture future successes, and about our collective investments in associations and unions in the image of peasant agriculture.

We're always planning and eager to create something new, new creations, why not a solar dryer, a domestic water reserve, oasis gardening practices, finding new uses for an old object... Because habit breeds boredom, sadness, sclerosis of the mind and stale pettiness.

So here we are. Welcome to our home in the great human family.
