Description

Located in the commune of Saint Michel des Loups (a commune associated with Jullouville), Cheux Farm dates back to the 18th century. It has a typical "U" shape, open to the west, with 120 m of courtyard frontage, set in 6.5 ha of meadows. Comprising three buildings - the Living Wing, the Barn and the Stables - the farmhouse is built of blonde stone, slate and brick. We are committed to restoring this unique regional heritage, which has a great value in the hearts and memories of the local people.

Currently run as a family business, our aim is to breathe new life into this place steeped in history, which has seen a wide variety of activities from farming to hospitality. Its strategic position in relation to hiking trails and its well-preserved environment made us want to share it with hikers, horseback riders and cyclists, to help them discover this land we've been coming to since we were kids, and have fallen in love with.

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

We're trying to revive a place that closed in 2005. Numerous projects are underway or under consideration:

  • Use local energy (wood) rather than electricity or other forms of energy, project to install solar panels on a farm building.
  • Preserve water resources (installation of water recovery systems, development of the well, repair of leaks in buildings, etc.).
  • Encourage biodiversity (planting hedges and fruit trees, creating dry hedges, etc.).
  • Avoid the use of petroleum wherever possible: arrive by public transport, travel by bicycle or on horseback strongly encouraged (fetch people by bus, low-carbon fares, bicycle rentals, etc.), eco-pasturing practices for space management wherever possible.
  • Highlight local producers who pay particular attention to environmentally-friendly practices, and share farming practices with guests.
  • Renovate housing using eco-consruction techniques, making the most of existing buildings rather than creating new ones.
  • Limiting waste by favoring Bulk and large volumes, and facilitating sorting.
  • Gradual restoration of farming and food production at the Cheux farm, whose products will be offered at the inn.

  • Measurement of electricity consumption per night over the year
  • Preservation of local traditional habitat
  • Open-air laundry drying, provision of clotheslines
