10h00 / 13h00 : Self-sufficient living
- Why buy ruins? (cost, type of building permit, taxes, etc.)
- Restoring or building habitat with limited means, 2 examples (a stone barn, a straw-bale house)
- Techniques and materials: straw bales as insulation, earth/straw rendering, the burnt wood technique
- Photovoltaic autonomy: disconnecting from the electricity grid.
- Autonomous furnishings: rocket stove, pantry, indoor dry toilets, water heating, pedal-powered washing machine.
- Pedo-purification.
1:00 p.m./2:00 p.m. Shared lunch (each participant brings a dish of his or her choice, in the style of a Spanish inn).
2:00 pm / 4:30 pm: Towards food self-sufficiency
- Preparing the vegetable garden (living soil and earthworms, mulching, tarpaulin covering...)
- Self-building a greenhouse
- Self-sufficiency in reclaimed water
- Composts (kitchen and dry toilets)
- Urine in the garden
- Cultivated surfaces and harvested quantities
- Preservation (the cellar, jars, focus on solar drying)
- Everyday low tech (earthen ovens, bike mixers, Norwegian kettles)
4:30 pm / 5:00 pm: Debriefing and discussion of everyone's projects
Possibility of camping or renting accommodation on site.
