Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

Maintenance of a 28-hectare plot of highly diversified land: cereal crops, grazed meadows with varying degrees of richness, wetlands and woodland. This diversity ensures robust production and the farm's autonomy.

-Particular attention is paid to the regeneration of cultivated soils, the preservation of wetlands, the creation of a pond (in progress with the LPO), and the planting of hedges.

-Organic farming in the vegetable and ornamental gardens, with the introduction of natural elements to promote biodiversity.

-Maintenance of the building, a longère built of local Arkose stone in 1875. We are gradually making improvements: solar energy production, thermal insulation...

How to get here?

As soon as you pass the Sabadel hamlet sign, turn right onto the ramp leading to the milling/bakery workshop. We've reserved a parking space for you alongside the bakery, in front of the "Accueil Paysan" sign. This gives you easy access to the Gite and its garden, and avoids the proximity of farm machinery.

Discover our welcome place and our territory

La Ferme de Sabadel

Ferme de Sabadel is a small, diversified mountain farm covering 30 hectares: sheep and cattle rearing, cereal growing and bakery processing.

If you wish, you can take advantage of your stay to discover the organization of a 30-hectare peasant farm. We'll be delighted to tell you all about our daily routine: -the upkeep of the vegetable garden; -the care of the henhouse; -the roles of the Comtoise mare and the two donkeys; -the extensive rearing of livestock exclusively on grass; -the interactions with the AUBRAC cows, a hardy local breed; -the transhumance of the RAVA sheep herd, a hardy local breed; -the cultivation of ancient wheat; -the bread-making process...

Territory description

A peaceful hamlet 800m above sea level in the heart of the Sucs region, an unusual volcanic cone. A mosaic landscape: meadows, crops and forests in a single perspective. Traditional farmhouses built of ochre-colored Arkoses stone and slate roofs.

You'll stay in the heart of the wild, natural spaces of the Haute Loire, bathing in volcanic lakes that are havens of peace in their forest setting, or in rivers of excellent ecological quality that are home to Fario trout.

You'll also enjoy the entertainment and festivities of nearby towns: Saint-Julien-Chapteuil "Petite Ville de Demain" (6min); Polignac "Plus Beaux Villages de France" (15min); Le Puy-En-Velay "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" (15 min); Monastier sur Gazeille "Petites Cités de Caractère" (16min).
