Description

Ancient wheat for sourdough breads, gourmet and balanced brioches, generous and nourishing cookies...

The basis of my bakery products is identical: I have selected ancient wheat because it contains less gluten, stone-ground flour because the germ is preserved, and natural sourdough because natural fermentation enriches the nutritional qualities of my bakery products.

Because my customers like variety, I add flavors to the bread dough: raisins, sesame, roasted linseed-tournesol or roasted hazelnut-tournesol.

Because my customers have a sweet tooth, I make brioches that are pure butter but not too sweet, cookies full of roasted hazelnuts and dark and white chocolates.

Because my customers need strength, I make Granoléma 2 times less sweet and 2 times richer in oilseeds and dried fruit than equivalent products on the market. It contains no refined or unrefined sugar, no glucose syrup and no oligofructose. The sweet taste of Granoléma comes exclusively from honey from the Velay region: honey from all flowers or chestnut honey, the choice is yours!

Accessibility

This activity is not accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM).

How to get here?

As soon as you pass the Sabadel hamlet sign, turn right onto the ramp leading to the milling/bakery workshop. We've reserved a parking space for you alongside the bakery, in front of the "Accueil Paysan" sign. This gives you easy access to the Gite and its garden, and avoids the proximity of farm machinery.

La Ferme de Sabadel

The Ferme de Sabadel, which welcomes you, is a small, diversified mountain farm covering 30 hectares: sheep and cattle rearing, cereal growing and bakery processing.

If you wish, our packed lunches will add a gourmet touch to your stay.

We offer a range of activities to help you discover the organization of a 30-hectare peasant farm, as well as the soul of the village (its heritage, history and customs). Last but not least, there are numerous paths leading from the farm to the wide open spaces of the Velay region. A stay at La Ferme de Sabadel is a guaranteed eco-responsible change of scenery!

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

Maintenance of a 28-hectare plot of highly diversified land: cereal crops, grazed meadows with varying degrees of richness, wetlands and woodland. This diversity ensures robust production and the farm's autonomy.

-Particular attention is paid to the regeneration of cultivated soils, the preservation of wetlands, the creation of a pond (in progress with the LPO), and the planting of hedges.

-Organic farming in the vegetable and ornamental gardens, with the introduction of natural elements to promote biodiversity.

-Maintenance of the building, a longère built of local Arkose stone in 1875. We are gradually making improvements: solar energy production, thermal insulation...

Territory description

A peaceful hamlet 800m above sea level in the heart of the Sucs region, an unusual volcanic cone. A mosaic landscape: meadows, crops and forests in a single perspective. Traditional farmhouses built of ochre-colored Arkoses stone and slate roofs.

You'll stay in the heart of the wild, natural spaces of the Haute Loire, bathing in volcanic lakes that are havens of peace in their forest setting, or in rivers of excellent ecological quality that are home to Fario trout.

You'll also enjoy the entertainment and festivities of nearby towns: Saint-Julien-Chapteuil "Petite Ville de Demain" (6min); Polignac "Plus Beaux Villages de France" (15min); Le Puy-En-Velay "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" (15 min); Monastier sur Gazeille "Petites Cités de Caractère" (16min).
