In short
Description
A charming little house, bright and cozy, surrounded by greenery and horses grazing on the lawn...
It’s a cozy little cottage where life is good, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and wood-paneled walls.
On sunny days (which are plentiful in this region!), there’s plenty to explore outdoors: the nearby forest, our animals who love company, hammocks in the orchard, and a vegetable garden teeming with life...
On rainy days, board games and books are available in the cottage; Patrick works in his woodshop and is always ready to help the kids with a project, and the wood stove warms both body and soul.

Originally from Belgium and former teachers in alternative education, we decided to change our lives in 2008 and move to the French countryside to live outdoors, become a host family, connect more deeply with nature, and raise our children in the fresh air.
After 12 years living in the Gard …
Our eco-responsible and farming commitments
At our property, we sort our waste: compost (or chickens) for organic waste, with recycling bins available; we keep residual waste to a minimum.
One of the two cottages is equipped with a dry toilet; the other restrooms are supplied with well water.
To conserve water, we’ve chosen to install small 15-liter water heaters in each cottage, which allow for a good shower while limiting waste.
Electricity is generated on-site by solar panels; we ask visitors to use energy responsibly.
We are an LPO sanctuary. So no cats here...
We have partnered with Agir pour l’Environnement to designate our property as a biodiversity reserve for 99 years. This requires commitments from us (and our visitors): no nighttime lighting, respect for silence (no noise pollution), a single designated area for campfires, respect for natural habitats, a ban on cutting down century-old trees or removing hedgerows, and a requirement to farm according to organic principles… These are all values we believe are important and that we strive to put into practice every day.

How to get here?
Kaïros is located 6 km from the village of Cérilly, where you'll find all the shops.
The town of Bourbon l'Archambault, with its thermal baths and a lovely organic market on Saturday mornings, is 30 km away.
The picturesque medieval village of Hérisson is 17 km away—it’s well worth a visit; it’s really lovely (with an organic market on Fridays)!
Getting there by public transportation is quite complicated. There’s a bus twice a day from the Moulins train station to Cérilly, but it’s not straightforward.
Most of our guests come by car, or sometimes on foot...

My structure
This property consists of a very old bread oven (1658) that was renovated and converted into a vacation rental in 2020. Added to it are a residential house and a barn built 200 years ago as part of a farmhouse complex. Then there is a small house—likely for farmhands—which was converted into a guesthouse in 2020. We have added a travel trailer to this “little hamlet,” as well as a second floor in the barn, which serves as a dormitory or activity room.
Showers and restrooms have been built in the barn to accommodate groups and guests staying in the trailer. In the winter, the bathroom in the bread oven—accessible only from the outside—is shared by guests staying in the trailer and the bread oven guesthouse.
Surrounded by meadows, pastures, forest, and a vegetable garden, it is a place of respite where you can breathe in the calm and greenery.
Territory description
Kaïros is located 2 km from the Tronçais Forest, which offers numerous hiking and walking trails. There are bike paths, ponds for swimming in natural settings and fishing, as well as nature and exploration activities.
Twenty-two kilometers away, in Lurcy Lévis, lies a magnificent site: Street Art City, a museum where you can spend the day admiring the work of numerous artists.
The villages of Hérisson, Ainay-le-Château, Bourbon-l’Archambault, and Ainay-le-Vieil all have beautiful castles or fortresses to visit (between 12 and 35 km from our place).
We also recommend visiting the Abbaye de Noirlac, 25 km from our home. It’s a magnificent site where nature, environmental awareness, and culture come together, and where concerts and nature workshops for all ages are frequently offered. Right next door is a lake offering opportunities for water sports and other outdoor activities.
