Le Champ des Grenouilles

Description

We're a couple with two children. Both trained as engineers, we decided a few years ago to change careers and move towards a lifestyle more in line with our values. We settled here in Montjoie-en-Couserans in Ariège in 2018, and are gradually building an agro-ecological market garden and fruit farm.

Our aim is to produce healthy, nutritious and varied food, avoiding the use of fossil fuels, aiming for zero waste, using "low-tech" equipment, preserving soil and water resources, promoting biodiversity, and so on. Our farm also aims to be open, sustainable and supportive, which is why we want to share our experience and practices by welcoming visitors to our place, which we want to make harmonious and pleasant to live in.

Eventually, the farm's activities will include market gardening in a cold greenhouse, fruit arboriculture, processing fruit and vegetables into jams, dried fruit and pies, and welcoming visitors to the farm. We also plan to have a farmyard, ponds, sheep to tend the orchards, and draft horses on site in spring and autumn to graze the large meadow and work the soil.

We are located 15 minutes by bike from Saint Girons, which offers all amenities. The property consists of our house, several buildings currently being renovated, and 5 hectares of adjoining land including several orchards, market gardening and meadows. It's important to know that we only have dry toilets, and our water treatment system (phyto-filtration project) means we can only use ecological products (soap, shampoo, etc.) on site.
