The Val de Poix Farm

Description

I ama farmer and livestock breeder based in Sainte-Segrée, near Poix-de-Picardie, 30 km south ofAmiens in Picardy, in the Hauts-de-France region, and I have been practicingorganic farming since 2005.

I made this choice out of a desire to protect theenvironment and to ensure that no pesticides are used.

On my farm, I raise 60Blonde d’Aquitainesuckler cows and 120 Boulonnaise ewes. I strive for consistency in my farming system to achieveself-sufficiency in feed and fertilization.

Personally, I do not exploit the land or the animals; I work with them, and I have found inorganic farming asmall-scale, artisanalapproach that creates added value andjobs.

To promote our products andthose of our colleagues, and to revitalize our region, we’ve opened a farm-to-table grocery store— —right on the farm. Finally, by restoring and converting old barns into rural guesthouses, we’re able towelcome visitors seeking peace and quiet.
