Description
Samuel was born in the Boulonnais region.
They say that once you've plunged into the Boulonnais basin, it's hard to get out. The bocage landscape, the proximity of the sea and the cuesta that surrounds this territory make it an ideal place to live, but also a dream vacation spot, just a stone's throw from England and a stone's throw from Belgium.
So Samuel was born on the farm run by his parents: his father a builder with a penchant for expansion, and his mother a woman of character who gave her all for her family.
Unsurprisingly, Samuel was trained at an agricultural school where people were looking to buy the biggest and most beautiful tractors. He dreamed of it. He took over the farm and gave it a try. He got into debt and ended up with a burn-out where he questioned everything.
He remembered his grandparents' farm, where he loved to run around, feed the chickens, help gather hay, feed the pig, pick apples from the orchard... Life was hard, but it had meaning: feeding on good produce and selling his surplus to his close neighbors.
He also met Mathieu, who had a passion for animals of all kinds, especially beautiful horned cows.
They decided to start from scratch and raise animals (poultry, cows, sheep) with respect for them (pastures to frolic in, organic food produced on site) and for themselves.
They have also welcomed Olivier, a nursery gardener, and have plans to welcome two young cider growers who are looking for a place to plant their orchard.
