How to get here?
To reach Galabertès from St Jean du Gard: head for St Germain de Calberte. At St Etienne VF, drive about 3 KM to the Négase bridge. Just after the bridge, take the small road on the left. Continue straight on for almost 10 km. After the hamlet of Raynols (small tarmac road on the left, do not take), take the first gravelled track on the left, keep to the right, and go to the end of the track which passes in front of the house.
From Florac: Follow signs for Barre des Cévennes. On leaving the village, follow signs for St Germain de Calberte. At Plan de Fontmort, turn right towards St Martin de Lansuscle. 300m after the village, take the small road on the left, signposted "Les Abrits". We're 2.5 KM from Les Abrits, after a right-hand bend (hay under a tarpaulin on the left), take the gravel path on the right, keep to the right, and go to the end of the path which passes in front of the house.
No public transport.

The galabertes
Our house is a 14th-century silkworm farm, perched at the top of a Cévennes valley (540m altitude), amid chestnut and holm oak trees, in a landscape of valleys and small schist cliffs.
It's also a Mecca of the French Resistance.
Like all Cevennes houses, it was built on the rock, using dry stone.
At the bottom of the valley flows our little Gardon de St Martin.

Territory description
Our farm is located in a quiet, secluded spot, and will delight nature lovers with its hiking possibilities, starting from the house or further afield.
In the chestnut-growing region, the land is well inhabited, with isolated houses and hamlets, and the hand of man is present everywhere, in the landscaping of terraces and waterways.
The gîte d'étape's recreation room has a library, where you can take refuge in bad weather or hot weather.
