🌿 Portrait of a Host – Hannah, Loc d’Ânes in Rennes-le-Château (Aude)
My name is Hannah, and in 2024 I took over Loc d’Ânes, a beautiful adventure born more than 30 years ago in the Aude Pyrenees. Now settled at the Ferme de Coume-Sourde in Rennes-le-Château with my partner Matthieu, we welcome young and old alike for walks and hikes with our donkeys, in a spirit of simplicity, sharing, and respect for all living things.
We also organize farm visits: from introductory experiences for children to regenerative agriculture workshops with several modules for more advanced visitors.
🌻 My philosophy of hospitality is based on warmth, attentiveness, and adaptability. Every person, every family, every group is unique, and I take the time to co-create with each one a farm visit or hiking itinerary that suits them. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual stroller, a family seeking connection with animals or a budding farmer, I’ll guide you to make your stay a refreshing and meaningful experience.
🫶 What drives me is connection: connection to animals, to the land, and to people. The donkey is an extraordinary companion—gentle, intelligent, funny, and deeply soothing. It’s at the heart of our project, both for hiking and for the regenerative farming we practice. Our donkeys also help with eco-clearing, carrying loads, and even participate in festive or educational events.
🍲 Hospitality here also means sharing our farm products: eggs, beef, vegetables from our garden, and fruits from our orchard. Join us around a generous table or enjoy one of our homemade picnic baskets. We love to introduce visitors to our region—its landscapes, producers, Cathar history, and perched villages.
🌈 Our commitment goes beyond tourism: we are a regenerative farm with the goal of restoring nature. We’re also partners with the Handiane association to make hiking accessible to children with disabilities, and we collaborate with local hosts in an eco-responsible approach.
See you soon on the Cathar trails, in the company of our faithful long-eared friends 🫏
Joining Accueil Paysan is a natural choice for me: I deeply resonate with its values of hospitality, solidarity, and respect for nature, as well as its celebration of small-scale farming know-how and attentiveness to natural rhythms and the seasons. I’m committed to making every encounter a joyful, authentic human experience.
