Unusual housing, yurt in Suisse Normande, in the countryside, camping on a farm

Unusual is a change from the everyday, it's daring to be outside your own reference points. Even your relationship with space will change when you sleep in one of our yurts. Here, no corners, no straight walls, but a circular space, open to the sky through the transparent tonoo. Our two yurts on our country campsite let you enjoy the country air and the sounds of nature.

Come for a stay, and you'll get a taste of another type of accommodation, far from Mongolia of course, but with the original spirit of simplicity and sobriety that we pride ourselves on.

Rental by the night or by the week. Rates shown here are for 2 people and without breakfast (7-night week for 2 people 320€, 2 nights 100.00€, and 1 night 50€. Simple breakfasts are €7.5 per person, €5 per child under 10, or €10 per person if full salted and sweetened.

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

Biodiversity and everything that enables it to thrive is essential to us.

That's why

-Trees are part of our daily lives, and we admire the older ones and regularly replant new ones. As a result, we have a wide variety of birds and owls, who delight us with their songs.

-We don't mow every part of the campsite, as a multitude of life thrives under the tall grass.

-Stinging nettles are no longer considered a problem, but can flourish in a variety of places, enabling butterflies, among others, to reproduce.

-Nesting boxes and holes in the stone walls allow birds to breed peacefully, while bats can take refuge in simple installations.

-The CPIE has built a nesting box for barn owls, and we're eagerly awaiting its occupancy so that we can observe the young using the camera.

-We are a member of the LPO (bird protection league) and a bird sanctuary. We are part of the Suisse Normande Territoire préservé network, with an environmental charter to be respected, and we belong to the CPIE des collines normandes.

-Our renewable electricity supplier is ENERCOOP.

-Food waste from the campsite is redistributed to our chickens and dog.

-We plan to install solar panels connected to our thermodynamic water heaters.

For these reasons, we invite you to support our commitments:

To reduce water consumption, if possible, use dry toilets rather than conventional ones. There are plenty of them on the campsite.

It's also important to reduce our waste and recycle what we can. So you have different, marked garbage cans at your disposal to help you sort your waste.

Noise is also a source of pollution, so we ask you to park your vehicles in the parking lot, and to keep them off the campsite only when unloading or loading. Youcan only get around the farm on foot.

We take great care not to disturb the natural nightlife. You will not have permanent lights at night, and we ask you to turn off any lights that are left on when you leave the abricool.

Don't drive in the morning to fetch fresh bread! Didier takes orders in the evening and in the early hours of the morning, usually by bike, goes to the bakery in Berjou to bring you your bread and or viennoiseries.

Private spaces

The entire camping area, including the buildings, is available to all campers and yurkers.

Whether you arrive with your own tent or small caravan, or come to stay in a yurt or caravan, you'll find that our camping paysan is the place to be. The yurt is reserved for you during your stay.

You'll share the common facilities you'll find on our camping page (individual sanitary facilities, kitchen, fridges, electric stove, library corner and Abricool dining area, bike shelter, clothesline, barbecue, solar oven...).

Accessibility

This activity is accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM).

The entrance to the washrooms is via an inclined plane. The doors to the diapers and flush toilets are sliding. The we are adapted for people with reduced mobility, as is one of the showers, both of which have a washbasin. Shared sinks allow wheelchair access.

The dining area is accessible via a sloping surface and a fairly wide door.

We have provided an incised plan for a yurt entrance, but the design of the yurt itself makes it difficult for a wheelchair to enter through the door.

Our stay rules

During your stay, even if it's just for one night, we thank you for respecting our environmental and bio-diversity choices.

The rules governing the use of our yurts are in harmony with the campsite regulations set out in our general pages.

We invite you to enter the yurt with your shoes off, and slippers if you prefer.

The furniture and fittings are in place, as we choose, and don't like to be moved.

And... nothing leaves the yurts, even for a nap in the sun! Also, if you're renting both yurts as a family, please don't mix the contents of each one.

Don't forget to leave the yurt for smoking or vaping :) Everyone will thank you.

And from now on, our cats and dogs can no longer be accommodated indoors, unless they are sleeping in their carrier.

Your cars will be left in the parking lot, to ensure the calm and safety of the campsite.

A minimum amount of crockery is left at your disposal. Once used, please wash it and put it back. Everything is provided for this in the Abricool. The same applies to the hygienic bucket, which is on hand to tide you over at night, but you are responsible for keeping it clean.

CAMPING PAYSAN DE LA GILBERDIÈRE

Sometimes projects are born out of chaotic, devastating situations! That's the story of our campsite.

It was a tiny wood...that couldn't withstand the storm of December 1999.

After the tears, we had to roll up our sleeves and clean up the space, looking at it with new eyes.

Clearly, we had before us an ideal spot for campers, with trees that had proudly survived.

Next to it, a building that would house our wood-chip boiler! Everything was there, and the project was born in the summer of 2007, with the support of our Accueil Paysan colleagues and our friends and family.

15 years later, a new ordeal! The building housing the sanitary facilities went up in smoke at the beginning of July.

After the tears, we had to roll up our sleeves again. Thanks to a great deal of solidarity, both locally and further afield, we were able to take a fresh look at our new, debris-free space.

Our building was going to be more beautiful, more versatile and easier to maintain. The apricool rose from the ashes in April 2025. We put all our imagination, all our inventiveness into welcoming you and providing facilities on the campsite that are useful to you.

The little house nearby, which had been there waiting for a long time, has become the Parlotte, (a place where people talk) housing our tiny store selling local produce.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Territory description

A plunge into Suisse Normande! Staying at our campsite means soaking up nature in the middle of our Normandy Bocage.

From your tent, or from our yurt, you can set off on foot, with your horse or your bike, to explore pretty wooded landscapes, which encourage a varied biodiversity. By car, in the heat of the day, you can take a trip to the wild or semi-wild bathing spots at Le Chant des Cailloux in Taillebois or Lac de Rabodange in Putange, or simply take a stroll around the campsite.

Our region is rich in cultural attractions: marvel at the open-air garden in Athis, explore the typical villages of La Carneille and Clécy, visit the art exhibitions at l'Estrade in Athis, la Roche d'Oëtre, Kalbass'art in Clécy, l'Atelier in Condé sur Noireau, listen to open-air concerts on Mondays in Pond'ouilly, Fridays in Flers and many other evenings throughout our region. At our campsite, a number of artists will be on hand throughout the summer to put on theatrical or musical performances, or to offer art workshops.

If you're an outdoor sports enthusiast, there's plenty to do here too: rail-biking 2 km away at Pont Erembourg, canoeing and kayaking at Pont d'ouilly, tree-climbing at La Roche d'Oëtre, rock-climbing, summer tobogganing, canoeing, via ferrata at Clécy, donkey-riding at Sainte Honorine la Chardonne, pony-riding 1 km from the campsite, horse-riding at Bréél or cow-riding at Forêt Auvray, and so much more...

We also like to suggest the various CPIE outings, where you can combine the pleasure of a walk with that of discovering a natural world close to us, to you, learning to listen and see differently.

And if, by chance, it rains or stops you in your tracks, there are plenty of alternatives: the Château de Falaise, the Musée de Berjou in Flers, the mediatheque in Athis de l'Orne or Condé sur Noireau, the Musée du Train in Clécy, the Château de Pontécoulant, or even more water, try the aquatic center in Condé sur Noireau or Flers, or take refuge in the cinema in Condé sur Noireau. But this could also be the time to launch an afternoon of board games at the Abricool on the campsite, or choose a book from the library, or take part in a cooking or craft workshop!
