Settled in Aubrac in the 80s, jeanine and pascal DEVOILLE have restored this old farmhouse, respecting the architecture and using ecological materials, the only ones capable of protecting the old building and the health of the inhabitants, and with a low energy footprint to minimize the impact on the climate. …

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

We've been practicing permaculture for 40 years. A great diversity of plants on more than 1 hectare.

During our market gardening activity, we were certified organic.

Committed to the energy transition for over 20 years, personally and with several associations:

canopée 12, agir durablement en olt et causses, negawatt, énergie partagée.

We initiated the film "virage vers le futur", about mobility in rural areas. about mobility in rural areas in 2020, which has been running successfully throughout France and abroad, to stimulate debate.

It's a pleasure for us to exchange ideas on these topics of transition.

rocabrac

The Roques farm, around 200 years old, is a true peasant farm like those seen everywhere in Aubrac. It is made up of several buildings, a stone and earthen house, adjoining a dry-stone barn-stable, a bread oven-chestnut dryer and a stone house, built with lime, in which we lived for the first 20 years.

The architecture has remained authentic, and the restorations have respected the site and tradition.

All work has been carried out using eco-construction principles, using bio-sourced materials (hemp, lime, wood wool, earth) and renewable energy (solar thermal collectors and wood heating, photovoltaic collectors).

Gîte open all year round with wood-burning stove, wood-fired central heating and solar hot-water collectors.ecological hemp insulation.common room with large wooden table, desk and 140cm bed. Kitchen in the old souillarde, bathroom with a large stucco-coated shower. Upstairs, 1 bedroom with 140cm bed and children's beds.

A tree house in the nearby chestnut grove sleeps 2.

Territory description

Aubrac foothills, in the Parc Naturel Régional. Isolated farm set amidst the pastures that nurture the beautiful Aubrac breed of cattle and against a well-kept chestnut grove, on the south-facing slope of a valley with a nearby stream. Altitude 800m.

The richness of Aubrac's biodiversity is well known: the Aubrac botanical garden will help you discover the flora, and we are amateur botanists to help you. As for the fauna, there's a huge variety of birds to be seen on site, as well as badgers, foxes, roe deer and stags.

There's also a pond for specific fauna.

Architecture is in evidence everywhere, with several of France's most beautiful villages just a few kilometers away, stone-roofed farmhouses (lauze), churches and the abandoned village of Aurelle......

The high Aubrac plateau offers breathtaking scenery, mountain flora and the beautiful Aubrac breed of cow. And the many streams that flow through it are a place of freshness and biodiversity.

Walking, cycling, swimming and nature-watching are all part and parcel of the region's activities. Cultural activities abound, and thanks to the markets, boutiques, restaurants and burons, the art of fine dining, at reasonable prices, is a great asset of this terroir.
