Small, independent, comfortable gîte for two people in the Haute Vallée de l'Aude.
Le Périlhou is a former sheepfold at 450m altitude. Surrounded by forests and the Realsesse stream, you're right in the middle of nature. Without moving, enjoy this haven of peace, calm and tranquillity. There are plenty of hiking and mountain-biking trails directly accessible from the gîte. Three kilometers away, you can swim in the Lac d'Arques and visit the Château and Museum of Arques. Less than 30 minutes away by car are the thermal baths of Rennes les Bains and the historic village of Rennes le Château. A little further on, all the castles of the Cathar country await you.
The gîte's bedroom is bright and airy, with French windows opening onto the garden. Separate bathroom with shower and WC. Fully equipped kitchen. Bedding provided. Cot and high chair available. The gîte is heated by a wood-burning stove, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere in winter. Pets accepted under certain conditions; contact us to discuss.

How to get here?
Access to our gite is via a 3km forest track. It's passable with an ordinary car, but you have to drive slowly. Here are some directions to get to Le Périlhou (from Arques, beware of the GPS, which will suggest the wrong track).
Take the D613 from Couiza to Arques. When you reach Arques, go straight on (passing the boulangerie on your left and the chemin du lac on your right). Just after the end of the village, there's a small bridge and track on the right, marked "Le Périlhou 3 km". Take this forest track and follow it (you pass the "Bibet" mailbox after 2km), up to our mailbox, and turn left here. Go down to the gîte (on the left), with parking next to it.

LE PERILHOU
We have a small organic market garden and offer a range of fresh, seasonal veg to visitors. Our comfortable gite is ideally suited for two people, with a fully fitted kitchen downstairs, and a light and airy bedroom upstairs with en-suite shower/toilet. French windows open from the bedroom directly onto the garden. Large double bed (option of additional single bed). Bedding, towels etc included. Animals accepted by prior agreement.
Territory description
Le Perilhou is a restored sheepfold nestled among the beautiful forests and hills of the Corbières. Carcassonne 1hr, Toulouse/Perpignan 2 hrs. We are 3km from the village of Arques, reached by an unsurfaced forestry track (rough in places, but easily passable in an ordinary car).
