Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

Our approach to the site is to consume less and better, and to include as many local products as possible in our food. We try to optimize our travels, we focus our purchases essentially on second-hand goods, and our vegetable garden is run using permaculture methods. Our purchases are reasoned and reasonable. There are still things to put in place, but we're making progress on a path that seems virtuous to us, and in any case, pleasant to live on...

A discount of -12% is applied for weekly rentals (7 nights). The tourist tax is 0.58 ces/day/person over 18.

The 20 m2 private room with bathroom and outside access is in addition to the 8 beds in the gîte and is not included in the price of 139€/night. The rate for this independent room is €55/night/2 people, including linen and towels, as well as cleaning.

Ecogîte de Rangarnaud

Formerly a wine storehouse turned into a bioclimatic gîte, the Rangarnaud eco-gîte is the result of a meticulous renovation, mostly self-built using natural, bio-sourced materials.

Stone, lime, wood and terracotta make up a warm, healthy and protective home, where comfort rhymes with sobriety.

The first notion of Rangarnauldx

For the record, the 1st mention dates back to 1599, in the form Randgarnaulx (seigneury of Courtevrault), then Rangarnaud in 1775 (written as such in the role des tailles).

*Taille is a seigneurial tax (at first) of the ancien régime. It's called "la taille" because in the beginning there was a notch cut into a kind of stick, which was proof that the tax had been paid to the lord.

The place was still a farm 20 years ago... and now, an ecolieu...

Territory description

We are located on a 14-hectare site that we preserve by carrying out actions that respect the living world. The countryside here is varied, with cultivated fields and hedged farmland. The surrounding area is a long way from any major city. Poitiers and Limoges are about an hour's drive away. Rangarnaud lies on the borders of Sud Vienne Poitou, Indre and Haute-Vienne. This rural area is steeped in history. Castles, buildings, isolated farms - the inspiration of the Berrichonne region is not far away...

Watering holes in rivers or natural pools along the Anglin are there to refresh you. We even have our own little spot on the banks of the Benaize, where you can dip your feet in the shade of the - very - Vieux Chêne. And if the weather's fickle, slip on your boots and take a stroll around Rangarnaud. The light is beautiful under overcast skies... Get out and warm up in a well-insulated building.
