In short
Description
We are sensitive to the Earth in all its forms and invite you to share this passion.
The gîte is housed in the farm's old barn. It's spacious, which appeals not only to children, but also to those who like to organize workshops of all kinds (music, singing, mandala, well-being...).
The bedrooms are upstairs, with 2 beds (90 x 200) that can be placed close together (double bed) or separated (single beds), a bathroom corner with shower and washbasin, and a rainwater toilet. Beds are covered with a mattress protector plus fitted sheet, pillow protector and pillow case. There is one comforter and one blanket per bed.

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments
As soon as we arrived, we designed the site to attract as much biodiversity as possible: planting hedges, a pond, an orchard, low stone walls, installing nesting boxes...
The results are in: can you hear the barn owl, the tawny owl, the little owl nesting nearby?
Can you see the newts in the pond?
We're part of a small citizens' group in Wirwignes, and we regularly run workshops on biodiversity: pollinators, soil life, waterside trees...
We've hosted several artists in residence or as part of Jardins en scène.

How to get here?
We live on the RD 341, just outside the village of Wirwignes, coming from Desvres and heading towards Boulogne. Remember to slow down as soon as you see the village exit sign, as you'll need to turn right at the bottom of the steep descent and enter the avenue of fir trees. Drive slowly to the end of the alley and take a breather... You've arrived!
If you're planning to come by train, the nearest station is Boulogne-sur-Mer. We can come and pick you up. And if you're coming by bike, let us know so we can show you the best and safest routes from Boulogne to our place.

GÎTE DE LA POTERIE
We live in an old brick farmhouse built by François' grandfather. For many years, it was home to the Lecoutre family, who farmed mixed crops and livestock.
In 1985, when our first child was born, we moved into this farmhouse that had been unoccupied for 9 years. François began restoration work, first on the barn to create a showroom, then on the stable to set up his pottery workshop, and finally on the house. Gradually, hedges, pollarded willows, an apple orchard, a vegetable garden and a pond were planted around the house.
For a further 10 years, he restored the crumbling barn and built the pottery gîte. We began welcoming guests in the early 2000s.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Territory description
We live in the heart of the Parc naturel Régional des Caps et Marais d'Opale, close to the Côte d'Opale. The landscape is undulating and changes greatly from north to south in this micro-territory.
From the gîte, you can explore our garden, our village and the Boulogne forest on foot.
Then, if you take a bike, you can tour our producer and processor friends, discover the valleys and hillsides of the Boulonnais region, and even reach the sea if you're a regular cyclist. The Euro-vélo route runs along the coast, and new cycling facilities are continually being added.
Another alternative is to take the car to discover our region, and in particular the lovely Grand site des deux Caps, a jewel that has been listed for some thirty years and has gradually preserved magnificent natural areas.
If it rains a lot, or if it's too hot to go out (here the weather changes at least 3 times a day), the large room on the first floor is the ideal place to play, read, dress up, improvise a story with the puppets, have a table tennis tournament... We can also imagine a pottery workshop on site with François as master.
Our village church is well worth a visit: it has an unexpected history that we'll be delighted to tell you about! There are also many museums and country houses in the area (the ceramics museum for example, Nausicaà the national sea center...), as well as the super Desvres Naturéo swimming pool if you like to take a dip.
