Description

Come and spend a relaxing, natural moment in the Vosges mountains!

The gîte is located in Soultzeren, a rural village between Munster and the Col de la Schlucht on the Route des Crêtes. It lies on the edge of the village in a mountain setting at an altitude of 550 meters. Facing south, it overlooks the Munster Valley.

It can accommodate up to 6 people with its own entrance, and is part of an alternative, downsizing approach.

Anne, the owner, will be delighted to welcome you and introduce you to her "home-made" products.

During the summer, introductory courses in ecological and family beekeeping are offered, as well as medicinal plant recognition.

You'll be able to taste honeys, jams, herbal teas and apple juice from the orchard.

The Chemin du Schirbach is the ideal starting point for walks and hikes, whether or not you follow the signposted paths!

Our location in the Parc Naturel des Ballons des Vosges means that hiking trails start from the gîte.

In summer, the high-altitude lakes are popular for walks, and the farmhouse inns offer authentic food and drink.

In winter, the region's slopes (Le Tanet, Schnepfenried, La Bresse, Les Trois Fours) are ideal for snow sports and snowshoeing.

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

I'm committed to the defense of peasant agriculture, and take part in the activities of the Amis de la Conf, of which I'm an administrator.

I'm also part of a self-help group in the Vallée de Munster and am particularly active in the working group on food, the environment and gardening. Personally, I teach people about beekeeping, botanical recognition and the use of medicinal plants.

I also offer short courses on basic practices (washing, ointments, knitting, baking, gemmotherapy, etc.).

I'm also a member of the volunteer group organizing the annual eco-bio fair in Colmar.

How to get here?

We're lucky to have a TER train to the Munster valley from Colmar.

If required, I can collect my guests from the station 5km from the gîte.

A bus passes through the village every day, and in summer a special shuttle bus takes hikers to the Crêtes Vosgiennes.

My gîte is a 6-7 minute walk from the village center, accessible by a small tarmac road.

L'ALVEOLE DU SCHIRBACH

I created the gîte in 2015 in an old chalet. It has a capacity of 6 people with an independent entrance at the back of the house: 2 bedrooms are available on the first floor of the owner's house.

The exterior of the gîte opens onto the garden, with an adjoining terrace equipped with table, chairs and parasol.

In fine weather, it's possible to sit outside and enjoy a meal while keeping an eye on the children, who have access to a sandpit.

There's also a flat area where you can play badminton, relax in the deckchairs or laze on the bench.

Territory description

The Alvéole du Schirbach gîte is located in Soultzeren, between Munster (5km) and the Col de la Schlucht (14km and 1100m altitude) on the Crêtes Vosgiennes road.

My chalet is on the edge of the village and faces due south at an altitude of 550 meters.

A balcony at the front of the house, accessible from the gîte's bedrooms, offers a view over the valley.

The lively town of Munster has all the shops you need, from a supermarket to the small shops on the main street, not forgetting the farmers' market on Saturday mornings. You can watch Munster cheese being made on a number of dairy farms raising Vosges cows in the surrounding area.

In the event of a heatwave, the cool mountain air makes it easier to bear the heat. The lakes of Longemer and Gérardmer are a great alternative for a refreshing swim surrounded by mountains.

Winter can be dedicated to snow activities, which have become uncertain over the last 3 years.

The Vosges massifs are essentially devoted to hiking in all seasons. The Club Vosgien has set up a large number of signposts, providing an impressive network of possible walks.

In case of bad weather, you can travel to Colmar (20km) by train, or even visit Strasbourg and its magnificent cathedral.
