Description

Trees, widely-spaced pitches: a 1000-star campsite! (The stars of the sky ;-)

It's like camping in the wild (that's just as much in the vegetation), except that you have a properly levelled pitch, a nice little sanitary block not far away, a few other campers around to chat if the mood strikes - but not stuck to you -, and then the farm 100-200m away where you can discover country life, stock up on a few products, and possibly have breakfast or dinner.

The sanitary block gives you access to dry toilets and a hot shower, sink, washbasins, electric sockets (no elec on the pitches), a fridge and a freezer. There's also a waste separation system and a compost bin.

Pitches come in different sizes: I choose the most suitable according to the size of your tent (length by width, noted on the packaging). If you think about looking at it before contacting me, that's a plus. Van location.

It's a few dozen meters' walk from the parking lot to bring your stuff in, but there's a wheelbarrow available, and once you're set up, what a pleasure to be away from any vehicles! Arrival times: 5pm to 6:30pm. Exceptions possible in case of problems, of course!

2 evenings a week, from July 20 to around August 20 (to be confirmed), you'll be served organic-vegetable food by Chez Jeannette.

If you don't have a tent but still want a taste of the "camping spirit", there's the tipi and the caravan. And if you want more comfort, or want to come with friends who need it, think of chambres d'hôtes or self-catering cottages. See dedicated sections for all this.

A word of warning: the campsite is only open in July and August, because it's also a place for my animals to roam, which I don't allow them to do during this period, so they said "OK, but no more, don't push it! I can, however, consider off-season requests, offering you a space in a meadow closer to the farm and access to a bedroom bathroom if it's not occupied.

Our eco-responsible and farming commitments

For over 50 years, the La Baraque farm has been committed to an ecological approach (and has been a member of the Nature & Progrès network from the outset), rebuilding and rehabilitating its land to promote biodiversity. This includes first and foremost the soils, which were in a sorry state (virtually uncultivated) when the estate was taken over by pine trees. We had to bring back deciduous trees and recreate humus. This has now been achieved, and the high level of organic matter in our agricultural soils enables us to produce a large number of good vegetables, while we naturally continue to cultivate our land in a way that is as respectful of living organisms as possible.

Our stay rules

Dogs allowed under strict conditions: as the campsite is in the middle of nature, wild animals may roam around at night, so you'll need to be sure that this doesn't cause your dog to bark. To avoid any problems, dogs are only allowed on one pitch at any one time. As everywhere else, owners are asked to pick up after their dogs, and to keep them on a leash around the farm, relative to the presence of livestock.

Fire safety :

Smoking is permitted on the campsite, but always with an ashtray to hand (glass jars are provided).

Camping gases are the only flames authorized for cooking. All fires are strictly forbidden on the campsite or in the surrounding countryside, even in the river!

Arrival time : 5 p.m.

Departure time : 5 p.m.

Pets : To be discussed with the owner

Smoking allowed

Party and event not allowed

How to get here?

Warning: there are two "chemin de la baraque". The one not to be taken (not passable all the way) starts in a neighboring commune and is a dirt track. The GPS sometimes sends you on it, so don't listen to them.

The "chemin de la baraque", which is the right one, starts from the D51 between Aujac and Bedousses bas. It's a single-lane tarmac road that's 3km long, but seems to be twice as long when you're not used to it ;-) The tarmac becomes dirt for the last 50-100m only.

The nearest train station is Génolhac, half an hour away. If you don't have your own means of transport, I can pick you up by car for a fee.
