How to get here?

We are located at Hameau d'Etiveau, 2 km south of Saint Boil, on the D 981, between Cluny and Chalon sur Saône. Rue des valles is a continuation of rue de la voie verte.

For cyclists, the voie verte de Bourgogne du sud Châlon Mâcon passes 200 m from the house.

The mobigo bus line LR07 from Chalon sur Saône to Mâcon serves Etiveau. It is equipped with bike racks.

the nearest train stations are Chalon sur Saône and Le Creusot Montceau TGV (30 km in both cases).

From the south, take the Mâcon sud exit, then Cluny. From the north, take Chalon sud, then Buxy.

THE VINES BEHIND

We bought the farmhouse in 1982 and gradually renovated it, retaining its character as a winegrower's house with a cellar. With our children gone, we've converted part of it into a guest room for 4 (one double bed and 2 single beds) with en-suite bathroom (shower and bath) and separate WC. The kitchen is shared with us. A large terrace and the courtyard allow you to enjoy the outdoors. The 1500 m2 garden features a vegetable garden and an orchard where our chickens roam. A working bread oven allows us to bake bread, pizza and other dishes from time to time. Although we're in the village, we're a little on the outskirts (the vineyards "derriere"), which ensures plenty of peace and quiet. A large chestnut tree at the heart of the property is for us the soul of the house.

Territory description

Our village is located in the Côte Chalonnaise wine-growing area, which produces white and red AOC Burgundy. The estate passed on to our daughter is a member of the Cave des Vignerons de Buxy, which offers tastings and tours, not to mention the many independent estates and the two other caves in the communauté de communes, Bissey sous Cruchaud and Genouilly. The region is rich not only in gastronomy, but also in history: since prehistoric times, the Saône River has been a transit area, with numerous Gallo-Roman remains (Gallo-Roman quarry at St Boil), but even more so with the Cluny Abbey, which shaped the landscape in the Middle Ages, leaving behind numerous Romanesque churches and buildings (Cluny, Tournus, St Gengoux le National, Chapaize...).Chalon sur Saône, birthplace of Nicéphore Niepce and Vivant Denon, is home to two museums of the same name (photography and fine arts). Industrial tourism is well developed in the urban community of Montceau le Creusot, with its rich industrial past (Schneider family).

Hiking and mountain bike trails criss-cross the region, allowing visitors to appreciate the variety of landscapes between the foothills of the Massif Central and the Saône plain. The "voie verte" (tour of southern Burgundy) has become a must for cycling enthusiasts.

Summer is festival season (street arts in Chalon sur Saône, jazz in Couches, ciné pause in Donzy le national and so many other events in the smallest villages that we can't mention them all). Last but not least, local markets and artisans provide an opportunity to appreciate the region's gastronomic and creative wealth.
